Creating work in various forms through water color, illustration, and murals, James Brooks finds a way to create deeply personal images that relate to all of us. In his art practice, he explores the journey of Black Americans through a talisman-like mask. This mask represents the lineage of everyone that came before along with all of the lessons that they learned. Through this, he hopes to connect his world-building to our own.
